The new ruling, released earlier today, states that coaches will only be allowed to communicate with their players during half-time and tactical pauses. This is a large difference between the previous set up, which allowed coaches to talk throughout the entire game. Because of this, many teams used their coaches as in-game leaders, often calling strategies in real time as the round progressed. This will no longer be possible.

Players and experts have not taken too kindly to the change, with many coming out on social media to criticize the decision.

Some even went as far as suggesting a player strike.

The changes are certainly radical, and some teams will struggle with adapting much more than others. Na’Vi, in particular, will likely be hit by the changes. They’ve been using former pro Sergey “Starix” Ishchuk as their in-game leader from the coaching role, as well as just releasing former in-game leader Danylo “Zeus” Teslenko.
