Team Spirit’s sensation donk has shared his honest take on what it will take for s1mple to return to the top of Counter-Strike 2.
In a recent video by VPISKA, donk explained that s1mple’s struggles aren’t about losing skill but about being in the wrong environment, suggesting that the legendary AWPer needs stronger teammates around him to reach his old form and climb out of competitive CS2‘s lower tier.
“I don’t think this will help s1mple to get back to the top. His problem isn’t that he became trash; he still understands the game well, he made FaZe better with his game sense,” donk said, emphasizing that s1mple’s understanding of the game remains elite.

The 18-year-old phenom went on to highlight the role of teammates in s1mple’s performance, saying, “What he’s missing in my opinion is a teammate who is better than him, someone he can listen to and use to improve himself. He just needs to understand he’s not as good as he used to be.”
Donk pointed out that much of the issue lies within s1mple’s current team, BC.Game Esports, where most players lack top-tier experience. “And there are no such people in BCG. These four guys, except probably nexa who played tier one. The rest, to be honest, don’t know anything about CS,” he said.
While the translation of his remarks may sound blunt, many in the community believe donk was referring to the team’s lack of tier-one experience rather than their understanding of the game. His comments reflect a deeper point about the importance of experience and structure in maintaining elite performance. In donk’s view, no matter how skilled a player may be individually, thriving in modern Counter-Strike requires the right teammates and a cohesive system.
The Team Spirit star’s remarks suggest that s1mple’s path back to dominance depends on finding a group of players who can both challenge and complement him, especially those who can help him evolve alongside the shifting CS2 meta rather than trying to carry the weight alone.
Despite his critical tone, donk has long admired s1mple’s influence and legacy in Counter-Strike. In past interviews, he has called s1mple “the GOAT” and credited him as a key reason behind his own professional journey. This just shows that his latest comments come from a place of respect and analysis rather than hate, emphasizing his belief that s1mple can still compete at the highest level with the right support structure.
