With the roster lock looming for Stage Two of the Call of Duty World League Pro League, teams are starting to finalize their rosters for the rest of the WWII season. And the latest roster change involves two of the best assault rifle players in Call of Duty.
Matthew “FormaL” Piper will replace Sam “Octane” Larew on Luminosity, the organization announced earlier today. FormaL will now compete alongside Josiah “Slacked” Berry, Jordan “JKap” Kaplan, and Johnathan “John” Perez on Luminosity.
The 23-year-old assault rifle player spent the past three years on OpTic Gaming, where he won 18 LAN titles, including the $1.5 million Call of Duty World League Championship in August 2017. But OpTic’s struggles in WWII led to the end of this historic lineup.
“When I first heard about the potential to have FormaL on the team, I thought I was being pranked,” said Luminosity founder Steve Maida. “The man is an absolute beast and I believe he will flourish playing alongside John, JKap and Slacked. I have no doubt his transition will be seamless and it won’t be long before he’s lifting trophies as a member of Luminosity Gaming.”
Octane is rumored to replace FormaL on OpTic Gaming, although there has been no official announcement from OpTic at this time.
Luminosity have won two tournaments so far in WWII—the CWL Northern Arena Showdown in December and the CWL Birmingham Open at the beginning of April. Many Call of Duty fans are excited to see if the addition of FormaL will bring more success to the organization.
FormaL will make his debut with Luminosity when Division B of the CWL Pro League kicks off on Tuesday, May 29.
