Call of Duty Black Ops 7 will continue the Carry Forward system, respecting your past unlocks while keeping gameplay fair and fresh for the next iteration.
At launch, you’ll start with XP tokens and GobbleGums, but the real haul unlocks once season one drops. Unlike previous years, Treyarch is bringing an updated Carry Forward system with clearer rules and timelines for BO7.
I’ve explained exactly what gets carried over, what doesn’t, and how season updates impact your content. Let’s break down how the Carry Forward system will really work in Black Ops 7, so you know what to expect at launch and beyond.

What is Carry Forward in Black Ops 7?
Carry Forward is a feature that allows specific content from Black Ops 6 to be carried over to the next game, including certain weapons, skins, and cosmetic items. This system ensures players who invested so much time in the previous game don’t lose their unlocks, but at the same time, some restrictions are meant to preserve balance and the fresh feel of BO7.

What content carries forward at Black Ops 7 launch?
Here’s everything that gets carried over at the time of BO7 launch:
- XP Tokens: All XP tokens from Black Ops 6 will be ready to use in Black Ops 7 starting day one
- GobbleGums (Zombies): These carry over instantly, keeping your Zombies consumables intact if you previously owned them
However, most weapons, operators, and cosmetics will not be available at launch even if you’ve unlocked them previously. Instead, these will be temporarily locked, and you’ll have to wait for season one to drop to access them.
Everything that unlocks with BO7 season 1
When season one drops, the Carry Forward system expands in several ways:
| Content | Season 1 and beyond | Restrictions |
|---|---|---|
| Weapons | Yes (most) | Only if compatible with BO7 (meaning some are excluded) |
| Operators and skins | Yes | Some skins filtered for tone |
| Blueprints and cosmetics | Yes (most) | Only compatible items |
Most BO6 weapons, attachments, and blueprints will carry over to Black Ops 7 for both multiplayer and Warzone integration. There will be some exceptions, though—content that doesn’t have matching mechanics or visuals in the new game engine will not be included.
Your previously owned operators and their alternate skins will be accessible from season one. Almost all weapon Blueprints and cosmetics will start working across multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone. Once available in BO7, all unlocked content will also sync across Warzone if you link your account.
What doesn’t get carried forward?
All camos earned on Black Ops 6 guns are only usable on those weapons, and not on the new BO7 arsenal. Apart from that, Rank and Prestige stats, progression, and Prestige tokens will reset. Only the legacy badges or icons will be displayed in records tabs, but not for in-game use.
Skins for gear or streaks changed, removed, or overhauled in BO7 will not transfer.
