NRG Esports signed Brandon “Ace” Winn as its newest Apex Legends player, the organization announced Wednesday.
Ace started out playing professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in 2017. The player then joined eUnited the following year, where he helped his team lock down third place at the Americas Minor Championship and a seventh-place finish in Season 8 of the ESL Pro League.
Ace then parted ways with the CS:GO team in January of this year before migrating to Apex Legends, where he will focus his time streaming Apex Legends under the NRG banner.
As the latest battle royale game, Apex Legends released just over a month ago and has since amassed over 50 million downloads by the one-month mark. Following its surprise release, the battle royale game made its way to the top of Twitch’s game list and has since seen been featured in a few tournaments, including the Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge, which boasted a $200,000 prize pool.
NRG stepped up as the first esports organization to begin drafting players for Apex Legends shortly after the game released in February. The org then signed former CS:GO pro Coby “dizzy” Meadows and Fortnite pro Richard “KingRichard” Nelson as the first two members to its Apex Legends squad.
