Baldur’s Gate 3’s long-awaited Patch 7 is finally here with mod manager, more chaos

Time to get a little more evil.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s newest update is live, and players are returning to the game in droves to check it out. Patch Seven hit the servers this morning, and it’s got some fun content to dive into.

Over a year since its release, the RPG still has a stunning number of players. This morning, over 42,000 players were trying out the new update, which is impressive in itself. But for a single-player RPG with co-op elements, it’s definitely an eyebrow-raiser.

The main addition in the new patch is an in-game mod manager, pictured above. This makes it easier than ever for players to install, enable, and disable mods. And with the Baldur’s Gate 3 Toolkit as a separate download, it’s easier to create and add mods, too.

“With this new and supported way to create and install mods, you should see improvements in compatibility and accessibility, and can rest more assured that your supported mods work wherever you’re playing Baldur’s Gate 3, which will include consoles a little down the line,” Larian said.

The other big addition is 13 new cinematics for evil playthroughs, showing some potentially undeserved love for the most twisted gamers among us who like to exercise their will in villainous ways in the RPG.

The new cinematics will be accessible through new playthroughs, or even through reloading old saves to relive the final battle with the Netherbrain, obviously dependent on the choices you make and made in the past.

Other changes include some updates for Honour Mode combat, bug fixes, UI updates, a new loading screen in Act Three, and a variety of other quality-of-life changes. The update comes in at about 11.6 GB on PC and requires a horrifying 160 GB of free space to download.
