It takes approximately 10 hours to be Reborn in The Outlast Trials. If you want to complete every Program, the time extends to approximately 35 to 40 hours. There are also Weekly Therapy challenges consisting of four MK-Challenges and a Trial, which should take you roughly three hours to complete. These typically fall under the Program Ultra: Path to Hell difficulty. You then have 28 trophies to unlock and 95 Evidence to find. All in all, this totals to approximately 45 to 50 hours of gameplay.

This completion timeframe depends on whether you’re playing alone or with friends. As The Outlast Trials is meant to be played using the co-op feature, it takes significantly longer to complete the game on your own than riding with other Reagents. You also have specific challenges to factor in like trophies that can only be obtained through co-op play.

Completing The Outlast Trials comes down to two main points:

  • Become Reborn by completing the Farewell Mansion in Program Genesis.
  • Complete all Programs: Genesis, X, and Ultra.

If you’re new to the game like myself, you probably just want to see the ending of The Outlast Trials. You can do this by completing Program Genesis. This Program consists of 15 missions, divided into five Trials and 10 MK-Challenges. Completing every mission in the Program rewards you with 20 Release Tokens for the Farewell Mansion final exam. By completing this, you will be Reborn.

Completing Program Genesis then unlocks Program X and by becoming Reborn three times total, Program Ultra will unlock. You should view each Program as difficulty levels. As you unlock the next Program, the Trials and MK-Challenges remain the same but the difficulty increases tremendously. At this point however, you should have a sufficient loadout with upgraded Rigs and Amps to manage tougher conditions, and have a ton of experience to tackle the Path to Hell.
