WoW SoD: All PvP ranks in WoW Classic Season of Discovery

PvP ranks in Season of Discovery are capped!

Season of Discovery is designed in the image of World of Warcraft Classic, meaning it uses old WoW Classic systems like PvP and ranks.

PvP in WoW Classic Season of Discovery works a bit differently to the retail version. Firstly, the only places you can PvP are battlegrounds and open-world zones. Each time you participate in a kill, you earn Honor, and that Honor is converted into progress toward PvP ranks. When you get a certain number of kills, you rank up, granting you access to better gear. Here are all PvP ranks in WoW Classic Season of Discovery.

During the second phase of Season of Discovery, PvP ranks cap at level five. You can reach higher ranks as the game progresses to other phases. This means you can reach the following ranks right now:

One15 Honorable KillsPrivateScout
Two2,000 ratingCorporalGrunt
Three5,000 rating SergeantSergeant
Four10,000 ratingMaster SergeantSenior Sergeant

Each subsequent Season of Discovery update will increase the PvP rank cap. There will be more updates, and it’s hard to say how ranks will be divided across the phases. My guess is that each update will increase the PvP rank cap by three to four ranks.

RankRating PointsAlliance titleHorde title
Six20,000 ratingKnightStone Guard
Seven25,000 ratingKnight-LieutenantBlood Guard
Eight30,000 ratingKnight-CaptainLegionnaire
Nine35,000 ratingKnight-ChampionCenturion

1145,000 ratingCommanderLieutenant General
1250,000 ratingMarshalGeneral
1355,000 ratingField MarshalWarlord

Each rank offers unique PvP rewards, namely gear upgrades to dominate your opponents with ease. Even if you’re not a big PvPer, Greater Insignia trinkets are very useful because they can remove all CC effects.

All PvP changes in WoW Classic Season of Discovery

Season of Discovery has changed up countless elements of the decades-old MMO, including the ranking system itself.

In previous iterations of WoW, your rank was determined by your rating in comparison to other players. Now, your rank is gained surpassing a rating threshold. This is similar to other popular multiplayer titles with ELO systems, like League of Legends or VALORANT.

Tip:

The best way to grind PvP faction reputation and Marks is by competing in WSG as much as possible.

Finally, there’s now no more rank decay. Previously, your rank slowly began to decline after you were inactive in PvP for more than several days, but it seems this feature has been totally removed for Season of Discovery and WoW Classic.
