The global World of Warcraft launch for The War Within has dropped. Here are the condensed patch notes and a list of hotfixes applied on Aug. 26 and 27.

Blizzard’s newest expansion, The War Within (TWW), is still the same WoW players have come to love, with a few additional quality-of-life and gameplay improvements. Be sure to check out Delves when exploring new areas, and don’t forget to unlock Warbands so your characters can share items, reputations, and more. Here’s a quick guide to the new expansion through TWW patch notes.

WoW The War Within patch notes today (Aug. 27)

What are The War Within zones in WoW?

You’ll travel down instead of outward or up to unlock new zones in WoW The War Within. The new expansion contains four zones stacked on top of one another as you travel through the lands of Khaz Algar.

  • Isle of Dorn zone: Recommended levels 70 to 73
  • The Ringing Deeps zone: Recommended levels 73 to 75
  • The Hallowfall zone: Recommended levels 75 to 78
  • The Azj-Kahet zone: Recommended levels 78 to 80

Having gained early access to TWW, I can confirm the recommended levels for each zone are accurate. However, I’d advise running Delves or completing a few non-campaign quests upon entering each new zone if you are at the minimum level once reaching Hallowfall. Running only TWW campaign quests will not get you to level 80.

What are the WoW dungeons in The War Within?

Players can run a total of eight new WoW dungeons in TWW. Dungeons are classified as level-up and maximum level.

  • The Rookery: A level-up dungeon with a minimum level requirement of 71 located in the Isle of Dorn zone at 31.5 and 35.5
  • Stonevault: A level-up dungeon with a minimum level requirement of 73 located in the Ringing Deeps zone at 46.9 and 32.8.
  • The Priory of the Sacred Flame: A level-up dungeon with a minimum level requirement of 75 located in Hallowfall.
  • Ara-Kara, the City of Echoes: A level-up dungeon with a minimum level requirement of 77 in the Azj-Kahet zone.

What is the WoW The War Within season schedule?

Plan your grind through TWW by knowing all the important dates. Season one starts on Sept. 10, featuring normal and heroic raid difficulty, Raid Finder Wing One, Mythic zero dungeons unlocked, Heroic seasonal dungeons unlocked, world bosses unlocked, and the start of PvP season one.

Mythic Raid and Mythic Dungeons Plus will unlock on Sept. 17, along with Raid Finder Wing Two opening and the raid story mode opening. Raid Finder Mythic Wing Three opens on Sept. 24.

WoW item changes for The War Within

The Myth track has been extended from four steps to six, and the Dragonflight Great Vault has been sealed, no longer providing rewards for completing activities within the expansion.

Raid rewards

  • Beginning a month after Season One (around Oct. 10), a quest called The Finer Things will drop. This quest tasks players with collecting Nerub-ar Finery within Nerbu-ar Palace and smuggling the Finery out to allies in exchange for additional power in the raid. All rewards are Warband-wide.
  • Mythic raid and end bosses with mount drops reward three mounts instead of two.
  • The mount drop rate for Mythic Fyrakk was reduced from two to one.
  • Earn additional upgrade crests from the next higher difficulty in addition to their existing crests from Queen Ansurk and the Silken Court.
  • Add Sockets to PvP equipment through the Vicious Jewelers Setting, purchased with the Great Vaoult Aspects’ Token of Merit.

Wow Profession changes for The War Within

Professions in WoW, like Fishing, Tailoring, and Cooking, were adjusted for TWW.

Cooking

  • Collect cooking materials by salvaging them from enemies throughout Khaz Algar.
  • Combine meals into a Hearty version that persists through death.

Fishing

  • Journal entries are now available, detailing important fish. Entries in the journal contain information about the fish of Khaz Algar, such as zones and pool locations.
  • The Hallowfall Fishing Derby will drop every Saturday and last for 24 hours. See Captain Oathmyt outside Mereldar to start the quest. Anglers will have one hour to catch all the fish. Rewards are Mereldar Derby Marks that can be used to purchase cosmetics, recipes, and treasures from Captain Othmyt.

Tailoring

  • Characters with a Tailoring profession can obtain cloth drops from humanoids.
