Who is Leandros in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2?

Why is Leandros an important character in Space Marine 2?

Multiple names and keywords are thrown around throughout the main campaign of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 that even diehard fans may have missed. A notable reveal is of Leandros at the end of the campaign, as Titus looks at the newly unmasked Chaplain he had seen throughout the story.

Leandros is not a name or a character from any of the books, such as Chapter Master Calgar, who Titus tries to call in the story and eventually speaks to in the middle of a battle with the forces of Chaos. Some Warhammer 40K fans may have missed this throwback, but those who played the first Space Marine likely know exactly who this character is. Here’s what you need to know about Leandros in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2.

Leandros was a side character in the first Space Marine game where Titus was again the main character. Leandros served in Titus’ command squad. During the first game, Leandros fights beside Titus, but grows suspicious of Titan’s actions, noting how close he gets to touching the Warp and inviting Chaos. At the end of the game, despite Titus being a hero, Leandros shared his worries with the Inquisition about Titus being a traitor to the Emperor and supporting Chaos, which is how Space Marine ends.

The events of the first Space Marine game take place over a hundred years before Space Marine 2. We learn that Titus was serving in the Deathwatch, serving penance for his supposed alignment toward heresy. Titus was placed within the Deathwatch because of Leandros, and if the two had never crossed paths, Titus may have gone down a different path.

This is why the character reveal at the end of Space Marine 2 is such a shocking development. After Titus underwent the Rubicon Primaris surgery, the Chaplain warned Titus throughout the story that he was watching him and ensuring he stayed on the righteous path. It all clicks together for Space Marine fans as to why this Chaplain would have such an immediate aggression toward Titus and his unorthodox actions.

Hopefully, this clears up any minor details about who Leandros is at the end of Space Marine 2 and why he’s an essential character in Titus’ story. At the end of the game, Titus goes off-world for a new mission alongside Leandros, who will surely be closely watching Titus the entire time.
