Latest Pokémon News: Go player makes history with Shiny Jirachi, frustrated fans pitch Community Day fix

They did it at a staggering pace.

Lo and behold, the first-ever Shiny Jirachi in Pokémon Go has been caught after one dedicated player managed to finish the Masterwork Research task in record time.

In other news, rather than wasting their breath begging Niantic to make Community Days last longer than the typical three-hour window, players have come up with their own solution—merging it with an item that can be activated at any time.

Meanwhile, Niantic quietly removed a Boost Box deal that was such a good deal, it looked too good to be true, and the players who missed out aren’t impressed.

Go player catches world’s first Shiny Jirachi

Catching Shiny Jirachi in Pokémon Go isn’t for the faint-hearted. It can only happen after players complete a long and grueling Masterwork Research task as a part of Pokémon Go Tour: Hoenn.

Given how difficult and time-consuming the challenges are, it would take most players months or even years to complete. One player, however, has already managed to finish it, becoming the first to enjoy the spoils and find and catch Shiny Jirachi in a guaranteed encounter.

Others praised the player for their dedication and effort to get it done, pointing out that they basically got it done close to the quickest time according to basic math, adding to the insanity.

This is the perfect way to fix Go Community Days

Pokémon Go’s Community Days are limited to a three hour period between 2pm and 5pm (local time), and as a result, fans with other commitments like work and social events often miss out.

It was less of a problem when the events lasted six hours during the pandemic, and fans have been begging for the longer stints to back ever since, but since that isn’t happening, they’ve come up with another solution—make the perks of Community Days applied via an item.

In addition to actually fixing the issue, it also adds more flexibility across the board, which, as the player base continues to grow older and have more responsibilities, would be a godsend.

These Boost Boxes were good while they lasted

Boost Boxes in Pokémon Go were added in January, allowing players to purchase bundled goods including Incubators, Lucky Eggs, and Remote Battle Raid Passes for a cheaper price.

They were a little controversial. Not everyone had access to them, and the prices varied depending on what was offered inside. But for the most part, they have been well-received by the community. So much so, in fact, that fans often look forward to them, especially when it’s a red-hot deal.

Yesterday’s Boost Boxes were exactly that. For 399 PokéCoins, they contained a nifty bundle of five Premium Battle Passes, five Incubators, one Pokémon Storage, and one Item Bag.

The strange thing, however, was that it wasn’t available for long at all. Niantic removed it after a few hours. Those who saw the deal jumped on it fast. Sadly, every other Pokemon trainer missed out, and they’re furious about it.
