Seoul Dynasty prove themselves dominant as new DPS player Wekeed shines

Seoul Dynasty vs. Shanghai Dragons closed out the first day of preseason exhibition matches.

Anyone following Overwatch esports will have seen this coming: Seoul Dynasty—once called Lunatic-Hai—are really, really good.

The South Korean roster showed up with an upgraded DPS pool, Chae “Bunny” Joon-hyuk and Choi “Wekeed” Seok-woo, alongside their tried-and-true players on tank and support. Dynasty took a win on each map against the Shanghai Dragons to kick of the Overwatch League preseason with a 4-0 match record.

Wekeed in particular impressed with his aggressive Pharah play on the series’ last map, Eichenwalde.

The DPS player managed to keep the Dragons cordoned off in the back half of the map, unable to push forward toward the payload in the match’s last seconds. He went for the supports first, essentially taking away any extra life from the Dragons’ front line. But Wekeed didn’t stop there. As he retreated, Wekeed kept firing rockets with surgical precision: He knew where the Dragons are going, and he always landed the shot.

Wekeed played for LuxuryWatch Red before he transferred to the Dynasty—and it seems like he’s finally found a place where he can shine. It’s going to be exciting to watch Wekeed as he (and his playstyle) grows on an international stage.

The Overwatch League preseason exhibition matches continue through Dec. 9. Tonight’s matches begin at 5pm ET with Los Angeles Gladiators vs. London Spitfire.
