The King’s Row Uprising mission archive reveal, which was teased yesterday, will be more than just lore, according to Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan.
An Overwatch mission archive will be declassified when the files unlock on April 11, a tweet from the Overwatch Twitter account said. But what that actually means has remained a mystery. It’s still a mystery, but Kaplan spilled a few details in an interview with PCGamesN. “The event is going to be something,” Kaplan said. “When players see the event and play the event, I think they’ll see that we’ve been listening to their feedback.”
Players have been clamoring for an in-game lore event that explores the story of Overwatch, and that’s what this is, Kaplan added. We can assume that it’ll be different, then, than the seasonal events that Blizzard has introduced since Overwatch’s launch.
Some fans are speculating that this means Blizzard will launch a player-versus-environment event in the style of Junkenstein’s Revenge, pitting omnics and humans against each other during the King’s Row Uprising seven years ago.
We’ll know for sure when Blizzard launches the event on April 11. Until then, we can only wait—apparently it’ll be worth it, however.
“I can’t wait to share more of this as it is, in my opinion, one of the best thing[s] we have worked on since launch,” Overwatch lead character artist Renaud Galand said on Facebook.
