Mark your calendars and prepare your alarm clocks—KeSpa has released the LCK Summer Split playoff schedule.
Playoffs will begin with the wildcard match on Aug. 12, and will be played at SPOTV’s Nexon Arena. The quarterfinals will follow on Aug. 15, with the semifinals on Aug. 18 at OnGameNet’s e-Stadium. The grand finals will be held on Sept. 8 at the Samsan Gymnasium in Incheon.
The reason for the three week break between the semifinals and grand finals is to allow players to attend the 2018 Asian Games, which will run from Aug. 18 to Sept. 1.
Like in Spring, the Summer Split’s playoff match broadcasts will be divided between SPOTV and OGN. SPOTV will produce the first two rounds of playoffs, while OGN presents the semifinals, and grand final matches.
For many veteran fans of Korean League of Legends this LCK final will be particularly special as it will be the last final produced by OGN before Riot Games takes over the production of the LCK in 2019.
OGN has been a staple within League of Legends esports since 2012, when it first created its seasonal Champions tournaments in Korea. Although Champions was dissolved in 2015, OGN remained within League of Legends as the production company behind Riot’s LCK. OGN was the only production team behind the LCK until 2017, when Riot gave partial broadcasting rights to SPOTV.
There are currently no LCK teams locked in for playoffs, though Griffin and Gen.G are close to securing their spots with identical 10-4 match records.Â
Currently in its sixth week of the Summer Split, the LCK has two more weeks of regular split play remaining before playoffs begin on Aug. 12.
