Few bosses in Hollow Knight Silksong are as infuriating as Moorwing, a relentless flying bug that hovers above the battlefield, striking from the skies while denying you easy opportunities to retaliate.
While you have to face most of the bosses in Hollow Knight Silksong alone, you can take the help of a special friend called Garmond and Zara to take down Moorwing. Even with their aid, you’ll need to learn the boss’s moves to counter it efficiently.

How to find the Moorwing boss in Hollow Knight Silksong

You can find the Moorwing boss in the bottom left pathway in Greymoor, which opens up your way to Bellhart city. You can always find the boss here, but it doesn’t spawn if you complete the Lost Fleas quest in the game, so make sure you don’t accidentally free all the fleas to skip the boss. However, if you really want to skip the boss fight, complete this quest and report back to the Fleamaster and you’ll spawn his camp in the boss area, which allows you to bypass the boss fight against the Moorwing completely.
But if you’re not one to take the easy way out and want to face Moorwing head-on, let’s break down its moveset and go over how you can defeat it without breaking a sweat.
How to defeat the Moorwing boss in Hollow Knight Silksong

Moorwing spends most of the fight airborne, only swooping down occasionally to perform a dash attack similar to the Bell Beast boss. To avoid taking damage, you need to time your jumps carefully and stay mobile. If Garmond and Zara are on your side, they’ll keep chipping the bug to help you, but you have to ask them before the fight to join you. Other than swooping, it also uses its sharp leg claws to do a melee attack and you have to maintain some space to dodge it.
It also throws multiple rotating spheres, which act as boomerang, forcing you to stay away from it. The best way to counter this ability is by learning the time and the pathway so that you can dodge it using your muscle memory. It becomes faster when you reach the second phase of the Moorwing boss, so you need to adapt and improvise.
Keep jumping and attacking the boss while keeping your focus on dodging its flying attacks. I’d recommend you take flying knives and nails on your Crest so you have more options to deal damage to the pesky fly and eventually take it down. The boss is quite unforgiving because each hit from it costs two points of health, so it just takes two hits to end your fight and make you lose all your Rosary Beads.

Many players have also found an easier way of defeating Moorwing by triggering the boss fight and taking it near the air stream to the right side. Use the airstream to go up and you can hit the Moorwing through the walls to easily defeat it without taking any damage.
However, I’d recommend you to use this if you can’t beat the boss at all. There are no reward items for defeating the boss, but you get access to Bellhart, where yoy get to fight new enemies and progress your climb to the Citadel.
