One of the newer teams in the league, Splyce debuted in the Spring Split after purchasing Team Dignitas’ spot. They placed eighth, narrowly avoiding relegation in the promotion tournament with a win over Giants Gaming. After switching their support player, the team bounced back in the Summer Split, placing second overall with nine wins, six draws, and three losses—right behind G2 Esports at the top of the ladder.

Both Splyce and H2K played calculated, slow-paced games today in an effort to advance in the playoffs. The series went to the full five games as the teams traded wins. H2K took game one in convincing fashion with a more than 14,000 gold lead by the end of the match. Splyce dominated H2K in game two, with AD Carry Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup making huge plays on Jhin. Game three went back to H2K, and Splyce won game four to send the series to a final game.

Game five, while slow, was not without action. Around 30 minutes in, Splyce tried to take Baron. H2K made a stand, however, while Konstantinos “FORG1VEN” Tzortziou got taken out early in the fight, mid laner Ryu Sang-ook managed to kill three members of Splyce before being taken down himself. Unfortunately for H2K, the remaining Splyce members, top laner Martin “Wunder” Hansen and support Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle, healed back up and returned to Baron to finish off the remaining members of H2K. With no one left to stop them, they took Baron and then the game just minutes later.

The EU LCS finals kicks off on Aug. 28, with Splyce going up against the winner of tomorrow’s G2 Esports and Unicorns of Love match for the spot at Worlds in September. Splyce can also lock in a spot at Worlds next weekend if H2K falls in the third place match against the loser of the G2-Unicorns series.
