Tilted Towers is now deadlier than ever.
Fortnite: Battle Royale players have found an instant death tile inside a Pawn Shop southwest of that area right after the v8.51 update was released this morning. There’s a hidden basement inside that building, and when players enter it by going down the stairs, they instantly die regardless of their health and shield.
Players first shared this bug on Reddit, and soon after a few Fortnite streamers joked about it and shared a video of them dying in that spot.
When players die on that tile, the kill feed shows that they either “checked out early” or “played themselves,” which are phrases that only pop up when someone eliminates themselves. Since there are no other clues in the kill feed, it’s hard to guess what can be causing this issue. Until it’s fixed, players should stay away from that area.
This is just another instant death spot in Fortnite’s season eight. These areas started appearing in the game as early as the first update of the season, when a tile near the fork-knife area in Fatal Fields was causing the same effect to players who walked on it. After that, other death tiles appeared at The Block and near the volcano. They were all quickly fixed once Epic Games recognized the issue.
Fortunately, despite Tilted Towers being one of the most contested areas in the early game, this death tile is in an unimportant building. Most players prefer to land in the center buildings where there’s more loot (and players), so this area ends up being looted by people who prefer slower Tilted gameplay. This bug would be much more serious if it was in the huge gray building at the center of the area, for example.
Epic has recognized the bug and an employee wrote on Reddit that the team is working on a fix. Players should avoid this Tilted Towers building for the time being. This is the only death tile reported in the area, so all other structures in Tilted should be fine to loot.
