TSM signed Gavin “Tweek” Despsey at the start of the year after an impressive start to life in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate scene. He’s won titles at Frostbite and Glitch 6 and has been, for the most part, one of the top competitors for some time now with a string of high placings.
All the game time, however, seems to have an adverse effect on him as he recently opened up on social media about his problems with the game and the scene as a whole.
“I overall dislike the gameplay [in Ultimate],” Tweek said on Twitter. “Things are too unreactable/unpunishable. Everything is just so safe.”
To Tweek, the game feels campy and defensive. But there are some positives, he said. He likes a handful of characters and how every character feels a lot faster and viable to previous versions of the game.

Tweek’s statement has fueled some good discussion about the game in the community that Nintendo might want to look at for future patches. Most responses on the Smash Bros.
With Evo coming up in the next few months, it remains to be seen if Tweek can rekindle his love for the game.
