Smash Summit 5, a national Smash Bros. Melee invitational tournament held in a private residence in Los Angeles, just hosted one of best competitive Mario Party esports tournaments—between a bunch of high-profile Melee players.
Adam “Armada” Lindgren, Juan “Hungrybox” Debiedma, Joseph “Mango” Marquez, and Masaya “aMSa” Chikamoto are some of the best Smash Bros. Melee players in the world, and are currently at Smash Summit 5 to compete against each other.
Away from all of the drama, suspense, and high-octane matches, the organizers of the event chose to pit these four players against each other in one of the most competitive games of all time—Mario Party.
AMSa was the victor in the end, winning by an impressive margin.
AMSa was in the lead for most of the match, and prior to the end of the game, he held a two star lead over second place. The only way that aMSa would have lost was if Armada got all three bonus stars given to players once the game ends for completing certain tasks.

The Mario Party match was fun to watch and offered something alternative to the Melee action going on at this event.
Smash Summit 5 will end on Nov. 5, when Armada hopes to capture his fifth successive tournament win.
