Aegislash and Blastoise join the battle.

Aegislash and Blastoise were revealed during a surprise Nintendo Direct earlier today, and are expected to be released Jan. 31 and March 23 respectively. They are both part of a DLC battle pack which is available to purchase on the Nintendo Switch eshop right now.

This is the first time that new Pokémon have been added to the game since launch. Decidueye was the last new Pokémon and was created exclusively for the Switch version. He, Aegislash, and Blastoise will not be a part of the Wii U version of the game or the popular Arcade version.

Two new support Pokémon sets featuring Mega Rayquaza, Mimikyu, Mew, and Celebi will also be released alongside the two playable fighters. What these support Pokémon do, however, is still unknown.

With the launch of the Battle Pack, Nintendo is also set to add a bunch of new avatar items for players to wear. These items include new caps and jackets.
