The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were announced as characters in Injustice 2’s upcoming Fighter Pack 3 during Friday night’s ELEAGUE Injustice 2 World Championship finals. Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael will be joined by traditional DC characters Enchantress and Atom.

Atom will be the first character available to play. He will be available via early access on Dec. 12, with availability for all players coming shortly after. It’s unclear in which order Enchantress and the Turtles will follow.

The “Heroes in a Half-Shell” got their start as comic book characters in 1984. The series was adapted into a wildly-popular cartoon in 1987, and the pizza-loving mutants have been in the public eye ever since. Their resume includes four comics series, five TV series, six movies, and countless video games.

Reactions to the reveal, whether they were positive or negative, were strong. Fans inside the ELEAGUE arena—including commentators Steve “Tasty Steve” Scott and Stephen “Sajam” Lyon—exploded into cheers when the Turtles were revealed.

Meanwhile, much of the criticism of the move came from passionate DC Comics fans on social media. Many were disappointed that a fourth “guest character” would be added to the game while several popular DC characters still aren’t on the roster. Sub-Zero of Mortal Kombat was a part of Fighter Pack 1, while fellow Mortal Kombat veteran Raiden and Dark Horse Comics’ Hellboy were added to the game in Fighter Pack 2.

Previous characters released in Fighter Packs were priced at $5.99 each. Fighter Packs 1 and 2 each cost $19.99 and included some bonuses in addition to a trio of characters. Pricing for Fighter Pack 3 will likely follow the same pattern. Players who own the Ultimate Edition of the game will get the characters for free.
