Scattered Prisms are one of the most valuable crafting materials in Diablo 4. This is because Scattered Prisms are essential to upgrading gear and armor to help me keep up with the increasingly difficult end-game content.
If you want to maximize your character to its fullest for endgame content, you’ll eventually need to find and use Scattered Prisms.
Where to get Scattered Prisms in Diablo 4
There are two methods to acquire Scattered Prisms in Diablo 4: Treasure Goblins and defeating World Bosses.
How to get Scattered Prisms from Treasure Goblins
The first option for getting Scattered Prisms is via Treasure Goblins, which are entirely randomized and impossible to farm. This unique mob will spawn randomly during dungeons or out in the open world and immediately run away.
These Treasure Goblins can be extremely hard to catch if you do not have some slow or damage-over-time ability, or if you’re playing a slow class like Necromancer. I’ve lost many Treasure Goblins in my attempts to chase them down. But if you are lucky enough to slay one, there’s a chance it drops a Scattered Prism.
Because there’s only a chance for prisms to drop (meaning they’re not guaranteed), and they’re too hard to farm, it’s not the best option for getting Scattered Prisms.
How to get Scattered Prisms from world bosses
The second method is far more challenging but also considerably more reliable. Scattered Prisms are also known to drop from world bosses across the Sanctuary. Specifically, you should get one Scattered Prism when you defeat a world boss. At the time of writing, there are only three total world bosses: Ashava, Avarice, and Wandering Death.
World bosses will only appear after you have completed the main storyline in Diablo 4. Like Treasure Goblins, these bosses can be difficult to farm because they’re challenging to kill, and their spawn times aren’t listed. But if you’re playing Diablo 4—meaning you’re in-game—you’ll get a notification 15 minutes before a boss spawns. Typically, a World Boss spawns every 3.5 hours. So, continue playing, and you’ll eventually encounter one.
Although they’re much more challenging to defeat, you can consistently get Scattered Prisms by defeating world bosses.
Are there additional ways to get Scattered Prisms in Season 4?
Although I have not received any via this method, many players have confirmed you can occasionally get Scattered Prisms from the Honor Chests, the Helltide Mystery Chests that increase your Wolf’s Honor.Â
But, like with the Treasure Goblins, it’s not 100 percent guaranteed, so it’s not the best or most reliable method for getting Scattered Prisms.
What are Scattered Prisms used for in Diablo 4?
Scattered Prisms are a Legendary crafting material that can be used by a jeweler to add sockets to an item in Diablo 4. You can find a jeweler in Kyovashad or one of the four other major Sanctuary towns.
After acquiring a Scattered Prism and venturing to a jeweler, simply follow these steps to add a socket:
- Navigate to the “Add Socket” tab
- Selecting your chosen piece of equipment.
- From here, you will see the prospective changes to this piece of gear with an added socket.
- If this is the desired change, finalize your sale and then be on your way.
Although they’re challenging to find and farm for, Scattered Prisms are a necessary crafting resource needed in the Diablo 4’s endgame.
