With the roster lock deadline of Aug. 5 coming up, FACEIT announced several days ago that players are allowed to compete in the 13th Valve Major, even if they’ve played in the Minor championships.

This is a huge change compared to previous Majors, where players were barred from playing with a team despite elimination in past qualifying stages of the Major. The last iteration of SK Gaming (now MIBR) was the most prominent example of this problem at ELEAGUE Boston, because Joao “felps” Vasconcellos competed instead of Ricardo “boltz” Prass, who was already set to be the team’s newest fifth. These rules are jointly stipulated by CS:GO developer Valve and tournament organizer ELEAGUE.
