Warzone’s latest patch heavily nerfs recently dominant SMG and LMG

It's time to edit those loadouts once again.

The Modern Warfare 3 year of Warzone is wearing on with another update today, aimed at balancing two of the game’s most powerful guns.

With each update and new seasonal weapon release, the meta shifts, and today’s update could do the same thanks to some hefty nerfs to the guns that some players would argue have been OP over the past couple of weeks.

Here’s everything that’s changed in today’s update for Warzone.

Warzone update today: Aug. 6 patch notes

The meta-dominant Superi 46 SMG was nerfed in the Aug. 6 update, along with the JAK Cataclysm Conversion Kit for the RPK. Both weapons have been heavily used in recent weeks.

The Superi 46 has had its near-mid damage reduced to 26, down from 29, and its minimum damage decreased to 20, down from 25. The SMG was taken over in the meta by the Static-HV, but it was still powerful enough to warrant another nerf.

The RPK kit, meanwhile, skyrocketed to the top gun in Warzone, according to WZRanked. The JAK Cataclysm turns the LMG into a long-range monster .50 cal marksman rifle that was a two-shot kill at range. Now, it’ll take a bit more accuracy and time.

“We have adjusted the RPK JAK Cataclysm conversion kit to make it a three bullet elimination at the max range, as long as that includes at least one headshot,” Raven Software said in the patch notes.

Elsewhere, the WSP Stinger also got nerfed with reductions to max damage, minimum damage, and near-mid damage. The update also tweaked some MW3 guns, including a very minor damage buff for the STG44, which was dealing more damage to the right arm than the left arm somehow.

The full notes for both Warzone and MW3 can be found on the CoD website.
