Electronic Arts has postponed the inaugural $1 million Battlefield REDSEC Elite Series across all regions due to an “unforeseen technical issue” that affected the integrity of the competition, while promising to provide more information in 2026.
In a statement shared on X (previously Twitter), EA admitted the fault lay on their side, saying it made the “difficult but necessary” call to halt the Battlefield REDSEC Elite Series in every region after reviewing the issue.
The publisher apologized directly to players and teams, stressing that they understood the time and commitment competitors had already put into the new circuit.

The timing is brutal for squads who had already locked in for what was pitched as the first serious step toward a long-term Battlefield esports ecosystem under the REDSEC Battle Royale banner.
EA reiterated that they remain “fully committed” to the series and said more updates will arrive in the new year. However, at the time of writing, they have offered no replacement dates for the circuit.
The REDSEC Elite Series was shaping up to be a flagship competition, with 50 invited captains per region drafting squads and battling through Battle Royale lobbies into a Gauntlet-style finale. Across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, season one’s Elite Series prize pool totals $1 million, with hefty payouts set aside for both qualifying days and regional finals.

Content creators seem optimistic about the delay. Under the same X post, TacticalBrit said, “GGs, thank you for the transparency, there is so much potential here after what we played today, cannot wait to see it GROW!” Cloud9 creator, EmZ, echoed, “GGS, totally understandable and looking forward to the future.”
Fans and pros had already circled the December slate of Elite Series qualifiers and finals on their calendars, alongside the separate Open Series path that feeds future Elite seasons.
Now, with the top-end competition suddenly on pause, attention will likely shift back to REDSEC’s broader competitive offering and the game’s ongoing balance updates while the community waits for EA’s revised plan.
