Best weapons in Battlefield 6: All guns, ranked

Choose your weapon wisely.

It’s the second weekend of Battlefield 6 open beta running, and if you were looking for a weapon tier list that ranks all guns from the best to the ones that are not ideal, you have arrived at the right place.

Choosing the right gun becomes the deciding factor between winning an engagement and being eliminated, and as with every Battlefield launch, it’s no different in BF6. A clear meta has formed rapidly during the first open beta weekend, as players have discovered which weapons excel under current balance conditions.

Several factors, including rate of fire, recoil control, time-to-kill (TTK), effective range, mobility statistics, and the layout of each map, come into play when choosing the ideal weapon. So, here’s a detailed Battlefield 6 weapon tier list for you.

Battlefield 6 weapons tier list

TierWeapons
SM87A1, SGX, M433
ANVO-228E, M2010 ESR, M4A1, L110
BAK-205, B36A4, M39 EMR, P-18, PW7A2
CKTS100 MK8, SVK-8.6, PW7A2

Here’s what my tiers signify:

  • S-Tier: These weapons define the meta by dominating most matches and are considered “broken” or the strongest in their category.
  • A-Tier: These weapons are very effective as they are strong, reliable, and fall slightly behind the S-Tier guns.
  • B-Tier: These weapons are good but situational, as they come with limitations or are overshadowed by the previous tier guns.
  • C-Tier: These weapons are mostly underused due to their low win-rate ratio outside certain conditions.

S-Tier weapons

The M87A1 shotgun, SGX SMG, and M433 assault rifle belong to the S-Tier category, meaning they are the most powerful among the lot, and are absolutely dominating the lobbies at the time of writing.

As of the open beta, the M87A1 shotgun is one of the most overpowered guns in the beta, which one-shot kills at close through mid-range. Its high damage and range have already triggered players, calling for a nerf when the game launches in October. Some of the best uses of the shotgun are during flanking, holding choke points, and engaging in close-quarter combat.

Coming to SMGs, the SGX has an exceptional rate of fire, low recoil, and superb hipfire accuracy, making it a perfect choice for rushing and objective play. Its best use comes during fighting in tight spaces and aggressive pushes.

Although the M433 is the default assault rifle, it’s highly versatile across all ranges with a good TTK and great recoil control. You can rock balanced loadouts for any mode, terrain, or map while using this weapon.

A-Tier weapons

The NVO-228E and M4A1 carbines, M2010 ESR sniper rifle, and L110 LMG belong to the A-Tier category, meaning they are almost as powerful as the previous tier weapons, but fall short slightly in efficiency.

The NVO-228E and M4A1 carbines are stable, accurate, and well-rounded weapons. You can control them pretty well during mid-range engagements and support your squad with enemy takedowns.

The M2010 ESR is the only sniper rifle available during the open beta, but it’s lethal enough and can headshot enemies with excellent precision. Recon has always been one of the most popular roles in Battlefield, and if you’re a veteran in this role, you won’t feel left out over this weekend.

The L110 LMG is a great light machine gun pick that comes with a high magazine capacity and manageable recoil. It’s ideal for scenarios when you need to defend a point or suppress large incoming attacks.

B-Tier weapons

I have categorized the AK-205, B36A4, M39 EMR, PW7A2, and P-18 under the B-Tier. That’s because the AK-205 assault rifle gets overshadowed by M433 and NVO-228E’s versatility. On the other hand, the B36A4 AR is decent but less reliable under pressure.

Although the M39 EMR DMR is versatile, but is situational as it becomes less effective when the enemy pushes. At that moment, you wish you had a full-auto weapon like the M433 or SGX, and DMR play becomes less dominant in that situation.

The PW7A2 SMG is mobility-friendly but becomes inferior to the SGX. Whereas the P-18 pistol is a reliable backup, since it’s a secondary, to finish off low enemies.

C-Tier weapons

The KTS100 MK8 LMG and SVK-8.6 DMR belong to the C-Tier. The KTS100 MK8 LMG simply gets outclassed by the L110 when it comes to accuracy and handling. On the other hand, the SVK-8.6 DMR has a slower fire rate, thereby limiting its versatility.

Ideally, you should be focusing on the S and A-Tier weapons for the best results. Although the guns mentioned in the latter tiers are decent, they are pretty situational and would require selection based on map scale, close quarters favor, or open terrains.
