Destiny 2’s Root of Nightmares raid brings a slew of unique weapons with new models and unique perk combinations. Rufus’ Fury is the raid’s auto rifle, and it might be a good solution for a myriad of reasons: It was the first raid auto rifle in years, and it boasts a series of tricks beneficial for players.
Rufus’ Fury fires Strand-element ammunition and has access to Strand-aligned perks, making it a solid choice for players who want to make the most out of the Lightfall subclass. It also uses primary ammo, making it a good workhorse gun, and guardians can pick from a selection of damage-boosting perks to increase its lethality.
Here are the Rufus’ Fury god rolls in Destiny 2.
What is the god roll for Rufus’ Fury in Destiny 2?
Rufus’ Fury PvE god roll
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake, Smallbore, or Corkscrew Rifling
- Mag: High-Caliber Rounds, Extended Mag, Appended Mag, or Ricochet Rounds
- First perk: Demolitionist, Rewind Rounds, Pugilist
- Second perk: Hatchling, Target Lock, Paracausal Affinity (Honorable mentions: Adrenaline Junkie, Frenzy)
Rufus’ Fury has a ton of great options in stock, and it’s hard to get an outright bad roll. Strand-based builds will benefit from Hatchling and the Root of Nightmares raid exclusive perk, Paracausal Affinity, but there’s still a lot to look out for.
There are plenty of great rolls for Rufus’ Fury that cater to many builds. Demolitionist works great for those spamming grenades, Rewind Rounds helps with ammo efficiency, and Pugilist covers your melee ability regeneration well.
Hatchling and Target Lock are great picks for the second column, but Adrenaline Junkie works hand-in-hand with Demolitionist and grenade use, while Frenzy grants a flat damage boost while in combat. Seriously, Rufus’ Fury has many great options and its base stats are some of the best in the class: Get your hands on one at the very least.
Rufus’ Fury PvP god roll in Destiny 2
- Barrel: Arrowhead Brake, Hammer-Forged Rifling, or Smallbore
- Mag: High-Caliber Rounds or Ricochet Rounds
- First perk: Perpetual Motion
- Second perk: Tap The Trigger
Rufus’ Fury also performs well in the Crucible. For PvP, you want to get some range in of Rufus’ Fury to help it compete better outside of SMG range, and it has a couple of perks that perform well in PvP alongside its plentiful PvE choices.
Perpetual Motion greatly increases the feel of the weapon, with Moving Target a handy backup option. Tap The Trigger, on the other hand, gives you some initial accuracy, which makes it easier to line up kills. Paracausal Affinity can serve as a bonus choice, shrinking that TTK if you have the buff active (and activating it only takes one kill with Rufus).
How to get Rufus’ Fury in Destiny 2
Rufus’s Fury exclusively comes from the Root of Nightmares raid. If you’re looking for the auto rifle, it exclusively drops during the third encounter known as Macrocosm. If you’ve already obtained it during the Macrocosm encounter, you also have a chance to acquire Rufus’s Fury as a reward from secret chests and the Nezarec boss fight. This auto rifle won’t be found in the loot pool of any chest aside from the third encounter unless you’ve previously unlocked it on any character.
You can run the Root of Nightmares raid three times a week, once on each character. Additionally, it can be crafted once you’ve unlocked five Deepsight variants. Once you’ve dismantled five Deepsight versions of the weapon, head to The Enclave where you can craft Rufus’ Fury with enhanced versions of each perk after leveling the weapon up.
