After being relegated in Stage One of the CWL Pro League, Evil Geniuses has made two roster moves in an attempt to improve the team nearly halfway through the season.
Justin “SiLLY” Fargo-Palmer and Adam “Assault” Garcia have been acquired by Evil Geniuses to replace Ian “Enable” Wyatt and Anthony “NAMELESS” Wheeler, who have announced that they are restricted free agents. SiLLY and Assault join two world champions on EG as they team up with Patrick “ACHES” Price and Bryan “Apathy” Zhelyazkov.
Earlier today, SiLLY was replaced on eUnited, a team that he spent over a year and a half with. As a part of eUnited, SiLLY won his first major championship at CWL Atlanta 2017. Before joining eUnited, the veteran played on Enigma6 Gold and Cloud9 Eclipse, where he played alongside his new teammate Assault.
Since the E6 Gold and C9 Eclipse days, Assault has played on Cloud9 and Echo Fox. While on Cloud9, Assault began teaming with ACHES. The team saw success immediately as they finished with a top six placing at the 2016 Call of Duty World League Championship less than a month after forming the roster.
Despite their initial achievements, Cloud9 struggled halfway through Infinite Warfare and made roster changes. Unfortunately for ACHES and Assault, the moves didn’t do much for them as they crashed out of the 2017 CWL Championship with a top 16 placing. Following the season-ending event, Assault and ACHES went their separate ways as Assault signed with Echo Fox and ACHES joined Evil Geniuses.
EG has had a rocky first five months of WWII. At the first event of the season, the CWL Dallas Open, EG placed top 20. The team bounced back at CWL New Orleans with a top eight finish to grab the final North American CWL Pro League spot and another top eight placing at CWL Atlanta. EG finished in the bottom four of Division B in the CWL Pro League’s first stage, however, confirming that they would be forced to qualify for Stage Two through a relegation tournament on April 19.
The relegation tournament will be the first time fans get to see SiLLY and Assault on their new team in official CWL play, as EG try to reclaim their CWL Pro League spot.
