Kuro, a 26-year-old mid laner known for his time on ROX Tigers, has retired from professional League, he announced today.

Kuro had been competing in League since 2013 for multiple teams, but the most remarkable one was ROX Tigers. He was the centerpiece of that squad in 2016 when they were dominating the LCK and were the favorites to win the World Championship. Their story ended in the semifinals, though, when SKT beat them in an intense best-of-five series.

In his retirement post, translated by Korizon’s Ashley Kang, Kuro shared his future plans of looking to join a team as a coach after completing his military service while also saying that playing professional League was the best decision of his life.

“Deciding to become a professional player was the best thing I’ve done with my life,” Kuro said, according to Kang. “Eight years, starting from 2013 going all the way to 2020. I think I gave it all and worked so hard throughout my 20s. Things were tough as a professional gamer at times and sometimes I wanted to just give everything up, but I guess I ended up making such a long run because of the fans, the family, the friends, the colleagues. Everyone, thank you so much.”

His former teammate from ROX Tigers, Gorilla, retired yesterday as well.
