The news was revealed in an interview with Damian “Daps” Steele on HLTV. The player mentioned that his side would not be affected by the Valve coaching changes, because Devilwalk was no longer with them. The Swedish coach said he’d moved on to an “other opportunity,” but did not provide details.

Devilwalk had been working with OpTic since June this year, though he still hadn’t received his visa to live with them in North America. It is unclear how much he and OpTic had actually worked together. As Daps put it: “Nothing will change as we will continue on without a coach as we have the whole year”

Devilwalk’s stint with Optic Gaming was his second attempt at coaching. He previously led Fnatic for a year between 2014 and 2015. After Valve’s recent changes that have limited coaches’ role in the game, it seems unlikely he would return to coaching.

OpTic will look to proceed without a coach, and look to threaten the top spots in North America after picking up former Counter Logic Gaming player, Tarik “Tarik” Celik.
