Many gamers enjoy hearing about an indie game making it out of early access, a sort of limbo several titles get stuck in for quite a while. One such game is the beloved detective simulator Shadows of Doubt, which now aims for a full release this September.
The developers announced Shadows of Doubt version 1.0’s release date in a Steam post today, Aug. 12, saying its title will launch on Sept. 26, a bit over four months since entering Steam’s early access program. This will be followed by console releases as well, bringing the game to owners of both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Given how the content of Shadows of Doubt has increased over the months and how substantial of a change the 1.0 update will be, the developers have also announced a slight price increase from $19.99 to $24.99 as of Aug. 23.
Details on exactly what new content is coming with the full release of Shadows of Doubt will be shared “in the coming weeks,” but players should still feel excited as the developers claim their planned additions “would make any private investigator twitch with intrepidation.”
In case you haven’t encountered the game thus far, Shadows of Doubt puts you in the shoes of a private investigator navigating procedurally generated streets, solving all sorts of crimes and mysteries in true noir fashion. The world is an alternative version of our own with cyberpunk elements, including mega corporations ruling the world, apocalyptic environmental disasters, and distraught people dreaming of the fantastical “Fields.”
Shadows of Doubt’s sandbox nature allows players to give it a spin time and time again without losing interest, and the 1.0 version will likely only boost this sentiment, letting you embody the private detectives of 1930s Hollywood fame.
