Each descendant in The First Descendant is in some way unique, but none quite play as different as Kyle, The Controller. This bruiser-tank descendant isn’t one to slam up a shield and call it a day—he belongs in the thick of the action.
You’ll need to get up close and personal with your opponents with Kyle to make him work as he was intended, but when you get his gameplay loop down, you won’t want to switch off him again. Here’s our basic build for Kyle including modules, weapons, components, and more in The First Descendant.

All Kyle skills in The First Descendant
Kyle plays a little differently from other descendants in that you’ve got no MP. Instead, you’ll need to manage an additional resource, Magnetic Force, which can be generated and used in several different ways.
Here’s a breakdown of Kyle’s skills in The First Descendant:
- Experienced Technician (passive): Allows Kyle to generate Magnetic Force, which scales based on his max shield. Once Kyle’s shield is consumed, he gains the Magnetic Care buff, which greatly increases his shield regeneration.
- Repulsion Dash: Kyle dashes forward and shoulder charges an enemy, knocking them back. Dealing damage recovers Magnetic Force, and after concluding a hit, Kyle gets a buff to his DEF for a short while.
- Magnetic Bulwark: Kyle holds his hands up and creates a shield that blocks enemy ranged attacks. Kyle regenerates Magnetic Force depending on the amount of damage the barrier blocks.
- Magnetism Spurt: Kyle activates a self-buff that forces Magnetic Force to be used instead of shield or HP. When Magnetic Force is used up, or Kyle reactivates the buff, remaining Magnetic Force is discharged to hit enemy units and restores nearby allies’ shields.
- Superconductivity Thrusters: Kyle takes to the skies, firing his thrusters in the air before charging at a target area and landing, dealing heavy damage to all nearby. Damage is increased based on the amount of Magnetic Force used while in flight.
Your focus will be on using your Dash (attack) and Barrier (defense) to generate enough Magnetic Force so that when you pop your ultimate, you’re dealing the maximum amount of damage possible. If all else fails, you’ve got your Magnetism Spurt to fall back upon as an extra health bar.
As such, ensuring your shields are maxed out and cooldown reduction is boosted is important as you’ll see below with our module selection.
Best Kyle weapons in The First Descendant
Thunder Cage is a safe bet as far as an Ultimate weapon goes for Kyle, but Secret Garden is my favorite pick for this descendant due to its synergy with Tech abilities. This Tactical Rifle comes with the Pest Control buff whenever a Tech skill is used, granting a buff that increases firearm attack damage and skill power whenever you use your Dash or ultimate.
Otherwise, be sure you’re covering both long and short ranges with your weapon selection and making sure your Reactor requirement is being fulfilled.shield
Best modules for Kyle in The First Descendant
As above, our focus is reducing our cooldowns so we can spam our Dashes for Magnetic Force generation and use our ultimate as often as possible, all while maxing our shields to increase how much Magnetic Force we can hold.
Here are our recommended modules for Kyle in The First Descendant:
Module | Effect |
---|---|
Shock Punch | Changes melee ability; increases module capacity significantly. |
Increased Shield | Boosts max shield. |
Amplification Control | Increases skill effect range and max shield. |
MP Conversion | Reduced skill cooldown at the cost of MP. |
Nimble Fingers | Skill cooldown decrease. |
Focus on Non-Attribute | Increases skill power for Non-Attribute abilities, decreases cooldowns. |
Skill Expansion | Increases skill effect range. |
Technician | Enhances skill power. |
Spear and Shield | Increases DEF and skill power. |
Increased HP | Boosts max HP. |
We haven’t picked a Transcendent Module here, but Superconductive Bombing would be our pick. This module sees Kyle consume Magnetic Force while mid-flight during his ultimate to drop bombs, further increasing his area-of-effect damage.
Best Kyle Reactor in The First Descendant
We’re focusing on boosting Kyle’s Dash and ultimate, which means we should be looking for a Reaction that benefits both Non-Attribute and Tech archetypes of skill power. As such, a Materialized Mechanics Reactor is the one to choose for this build.
Look for third-line stats that grant skill cooldown, skill critical hit rate, or power boost ratio. If you’re planning on a more defensive build based around his shield and self-buff, go for a Materialized Phase Reactor with boosts to skill duration. Be sure to match your weapon type to the attached optimization condition for the best results.
Best Kyle External Components in The First Descendant
Given Kyle’s focus on converting shields into boosting his abilities, you’ll want to max out your shield. Here are the stats you should focus on for Kyle when it comes to picking External Components:
- Max Shield
- Max HP
- HP Recovery
- DEF
Make sure you reach that minimum DEF amount, but otherwise, pour everything into ensuring your shields are boosted as high as you possibly can. Extra stats for each external component should include max shield where possible.
