The hunt for specimens continues in Destiny 2‘s Echoes, with guardians chasing down Specimen NES006 for its quest. This specimen can be tricky to find since you can miss its location.
As usual, finding Specimen ID: NES006 kicks off an associated quest, which gives you another set of objectives to complete. Here’s where you can find this specimen and complete the associated quest in Destiny 2.
Specimen ID: NES006 location in Destiny 2
We found Specimen NES006 at the end of Battleground: Core, the third Battleground in the seasonal storyline. In our case, the Specimen ID: NES006 was just before the rally banner, by a wall on the left side. We found it just after the “trap” section, with multiple spinning laser blades. It’s unclear if players can find it in different activities.
To find the Specimen ID: NES006 quest, keep your eye on the Proximity Sensor buff on your screen. In Battleground: Core, it should start ticking in the room before the traps, with the second piston. Follow the path past the traps to find this close to a blocked-off wall by a stream of radiolaria.
Pick up Specimen NES:006, complete the Battlegrounds for more rewards, and head to the H.E.L.M. for another research quest from Failsafe. It’s the most violent research so far, by the AI’s own admission, and it can be quite time-consuming even if you try to speed past it. Here are the steps you must take to complete it.
How to complete Specimen ID: NES006 in Destiny 2
- Kill enemies with sidearms and auto rifles
- Kill enemies with Solar or Arc damage
- Generate Orbs of Power
- Return to the H.E.L.M.
- Recommendations: Khvostov 7G-0X, Trinity Ghoul, Sunshot, roaming supers
Specimen ID: NES006 may be the dullest quest if you want to complete it straight away since it requires you to defeat enemies and generate Orbs of Power. You can complete it just by playing, especially in higher-density activities such as Onslaught, but it’ll take a bit before you can reap its rewards.
We suggest doing this quest in environments with high enemy density. Some of our favorite spots are:
- The Shuro Chi checkpoint in the Last Wish raid.
- The entrance to the Grasp of Avarice dungeon in the Cosmodrome.
- Altars of Sorrow on the Moon.
- The entrance to the Spire of the Watcher dungeon.
The final objective takes the longest. Generating Orbs of Power isn’t tricky by itself, but our experience suggests this quest requires around 100 Orbs (though Crucible and Gambit grant more progress). We used the Shuro Chi encounter with a roaming Super, the Khvostov, and a matching Siphon mod to generate as many Orbs as we could. This was by far the most time-consuming part.
What rewards do you get at the end of Specimen ID: NES006?
After finishing this ordeal, Failsafe grants you two research instruments:
- Data Format Cipher: Opening Echo chests grants more Engrams.
- Combat Protocol Override: Spawns high-value targets in the seasonal Battlegrounds activities, which grant extra rewards when defeated.
