Leak claims this veteran LoL champion is next to receive a rework

The champion is truly in need of a refresh.

After Riot suggested the next League champion in line for a rework will feature in the upcoming Arcane Season 2, we might have figured out who that is. A new leak claims it is Viktor, a veteran of the League of Legends roster who has remained relatively the same for 13 years.

On July 28, League of Legends Leaks and News posted the leak on X (formerly Twitter), claiming Viktor will receive a rework in the form of a VGU (Visual and Gameplay Update) and that it will “celebrate the release of Arcane Season 2 later this year.” If this is true, Viktor’s VGU will launch sometime after the series’ second season starts on Nov. 2, which is only three months away.

Riot Games previously hinted that a new rework is in development for a champion set to feature in the upcoming season of Arcane. This hint circulated in January of this year, meaning the update has been cooking for quite some time. We initially believed it to be Singed, who is in dire need of a change and has literally remained the same since he first saw the light of day in 2009. If the leaks prove true, Singed will once again be left in the dust, waiting for someone to finally give him a much-needed refresh.

Viktor, too, has been relatively the same for quite a long time. First introduced in 2011, the champion generally plays similarly to how he did over a decade ago. Compared to Singed, however, Viktor remains quite popular and an effective pick in low and high elo play, though he could use a proper shake-up nonetheless.

Arcane Season 2, the next iteration of Riot’s incredibly successful League-themed animated show, airs on Netflix on Nov. 2, and we’ll likely know who the lucky champion is by then. We’ll also get our hands on Ambessa, another Arcane character who will receive her own champion status.
