G2 Esports’ Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle, who’s been suffering from wrist-related issues and was set to miss out on the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational, has received some good news: doctors have given him the green light from doctors to play in in the group stage.
“Since arriving in Hanoi [Vietnam] he has resumed scrimming with the team, after which we feel confident in starting Miky for our games at MSI,” wrote G2’s coaching staff on Twitter.
Mikyx had previously been on the bench, with substitute player, Hampus “promisq” Mikael Abrahamsson, taking his place.
Although Mikyx has recovered, it appears his injuries are still tentative. G2 hasn’t practiced as much as they’d have wanted, but they’ve seen success in a similar situation back in the playoffs of the spring split. Despite Mikyx’s absence from scrim time, the team should now be back on track for MSI.
The group stage of the competition kicks off on the early hours of Friday morning, at 5am CT. G2 will face off against SK Telecom T1 for the first match of the day.
