The play test weekend for Overwatch 2’s new support hero Juno is off to a bumpy start, and it looks like it’s due to sheer excitement for the cheery Martian.
OW2 is currently experiencing widespread server issues and errors, and even a server queue, likely due to so many players attempting to log in at the same time to try out the hero before she releases in season 12 next month.
I was able to play a few minutes of one game full of Junos in No Limits Arcade before being kicked into a queue. Once the queue ended, it tried making me log in again, and the server failed with an “unexpected server error” code. The server issues began happening within a few minutes of Juno’s play test going live at 1pm CT.
Many players are reporting the same issue, as evidenced by posts on sites like X/Twitter and Reddit, so it seems to be a common error. It’s unclear how long it will take for the servers to normalize after the initial wave of Juno hype, but thankfully, there’s multiple days of the test before she disappears for a while.
Juno will be playable this weekend, from July 19 to 21, before heading back into the workshop for nerfs or buffs before her release next season. The young girl from Mars has a fun and exciting kit, featuring a burst SMG that deals damage and heals, a jetpack, and an Ultimate where she calls in a giant space laser. She’s also able to speed boost her teammates, meaning she has a kit that utilizes ability-types from several other heroes, potentially making her a meta pick in multiple ranks.
Season 12 of OW2 is set to launch on Aug. 20, when Juno will be made available for free for all players.
