The tournament was revealed in patch v8.10. It will take place on March 16 and 17 and will award participants with a share of a $100,000 prize pool that will be distributed across all regions of the Scallywag Duos Cup. The full rules to participate in the tournament will be revealed this week.

Epic says the tournament is being developed “as a test of our prize payment systems leading into the Fortnite World Cup.” The company has yet to reveal how the prize payment will happen in the Scallywag Duos Cup.

The tournament will be split into two rounds. The first one will accept all eligible players, who must have been placed in the top three percent best players in the world of the newest Solo or Duos Gauntlet Test Event that will take place on March 16 at 11am CT. All players who reach that point will automatically be able to play in the first round of the Scallywag Duos Cup.

The second round will be exclusive to the top 3,000 players from Round One. Epic has not specified, but it’s likely the top 3,000 players in every region instead of in the world like in the first stage, since making matches between players in different continents would not work. The prize pool would then be split among the top players in the second round, but Epic has yet to reveal how the distribution will work.

Fortnite players will have more details of the Scallywag Duos Cup this week.
