A Cryopod in Ark: Survival Ascended is an item that allows you to store your tamed creatures. This item freezes them into an ice cube, leaving them in a frozen-like state.

Creatures inside a Cryopod do not count towards a tribe tame limit and the performance of Ark: Survival Ascended can be improved by storing tames inside Cryopods until they are required—especially on large servers.

How to unlock Cryopods in Ark: Survival Ascended

The Engram to craft Cryopods in Ark: Survival Ascended can be unlocked at level 50 Survivor Level, meaning they are a resource that are accessible to players who are well established.

12 Engram Points are required to unlock the Cryopod recipe in Ark: Survival Ascended.

Cryopods can only be crafted at a Tek Replicator, a Supply Crate, or Tribute Terminal. The following materials are required:

  • 10x Crystal
  • 5x Hide
  • 4x Oil
  • 15x Fiber
  • 2x Metal Ingot
  • 4x Polymer

Creatures in Cryopods have a 30-day decay timer as standard which, if it expires, results in the creature dying. To avoid this, store Cryopods in a Cryofridge or recharge them.

Like Cryopods themselves, the Engram for the Cryofridge can be unlocked at Survivor Level 50 and requires 12 Engram points to unlock. It can only be crafted at a Tek Replicator, Supply Crate, or Tribute Terminal. The following materials are required to craft a Cryofridge:

  • 12x Crystal
  • 115x Metal Ingot
  • 7x Electronics

A Cryofridge requires electricity to run, which means they will stop working during an electric storm on Scorched Earth.
