How to unlock the Metamorphosis Vampiric Power in Diablo 4

It's one of the best Vampiric Powers.

In Diablo 4 Season Two: Season of Blood, you can unlock and activate Vampiric Powers to help you rid the Sanctuary of the looming threat of a fierce Ancient Vampire. One power you should consider getting is Metamorphosis.

How to unlock Metamorphosis in Diablo 4 Season 2, explained

To unlock Metamorphosis in Diablo 4 Season Two, you must complete the Seasonal quest, A Serpent Cornered, the eighth quest in the Season of Blood. If you haven’t reached this quest in the seasonal quest chain, each quest takes around 30 minutes to one hour to complete.

So, it can take up to seven hours or more to get to the A Serpent Cornered quest and then another hour or less to complete it.

How to complete the A Serpent Cornered quest in Diablo 4 Season 2

To complete the quest, A Serpent Cornered, you must enter the City of Ancients, destroy the mobs, summon Lord Zir with nine Exquisite Blood, and defeat Lord Zir.

Although it sounds simple, it’s anything but easy. These are the steps you’ll need to take to complete the A Serpent Cornered quest:

  1. Obtain nine Exquisite Blood. You can get Exquisite Blood by killing World Tier Four World Bosses and participating in Legion Events in Season Two.
  2. Navigate to the Darkened Way dungeon in Gale Valley of the Fractured Peaks.

  1. Take the left path until you reach the City of Ancient’s door. You’ll know you’re in the right place when you see the HuntErys waiting for you outside of it.
  2. Once she opens it, head inside and work your way through the dungeon. There are a couple of tough boss fights here, so be careful.
Tip:

Like most dungeons, focus on the long-ranged or squishy sorcerers or enemies before going after the tankier ones.

  1. Use the nine Exquisite Blood to summon Lord Zir at the Bloodied Alter.
  2. Defeat Lord Zir.
Tips: Lord Zir’s Four Mechanics

Swipe and Scythe: He will swipe twice and then summon his Scythe to swipe it across the room. Jump behind him to avoid it.
Gust: A wind attack that follows you.
Blood Pools: Pools of blood will spawn and take a long time to disappear. Keep your distance, and don’t step inside them as blood orbs will erupt from them and follow you.
Bloody Summons: He will summon a Blood Seeker the first time he uses it and two more the second time.

It can be challenging to get into melee range, so this fight is brutal for melee classes. But if you use your potions wisely, avoid the mechanics, and take it slow and steady, you’ll defeat him in no time.

  1. Complete the quest and get Metamorphosis.

It took me just over an hour to complete this quest, and while it may seem like a long time, the results are worth it. I wanted to get Metamorphosis, one of the best Vampiric Powers in Season Two. And it’s excellent for almost every class. It’s definitely worth the struggle.
