One of WoW’s most expensive mounts could be coming to Classic for basically free

How could you resist?

World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King is slowly nearing its end with just phase five left to complete. But Blizzard has great plans for this expansion, and players could be getting one of the most expensive mounts in the history of the game for next to nothing.

On Oct. 24, Wowhead found the WoTLK Classic PTR had been updated, and it now features two incredibly rare WoW mounts—Magic Rooster and the Blazing Hippogryph.

What caught my eye the most was Magic Rooster, which is one of the most expensive mounts in the game, right behind Swift Spectral Tiger. Today, the feathery mount costs $1,799, according to the WoW TGC mount-selling website. Blazing Hippogryph, meanwhile, sells for roughly $900.

The reason why Magic Rooster and Blazing Hippogryph are so expensive is because the only way to get them was via WoW’s Trading Card Game. The TCG has since been discontinued and it’s difficult to come across these cards unless you’re willing to cash out a hell of a lot of money.

While Dragonflight players have a chance to get the mounts via the Black Market auction house or Twitch and Amazon promotions, there’s no way of getting Magic Rooster and Blazing Hippogryph in WoTLK Classic.

Apparently, Magic Rooster is already available on the Taiwanese servers if you purchase 90 days of game time, and this leads me to believe a similar offer will land on the Western servers in the future. This means you will essentially be able to get a $2,000 mount for the price of just $29. If you ask me, that’s a steal. Unfortunately, we have no idea how Blazing Hippogryph will be obtained.
