While the quest itself is short and easy to complete, it’s also a part of the questline that awards the Kobold Work Crew achievement. So, here’s our full guide to start and complete the On the Job Training quest in The War Within.

Before you start On the Job Training, make sure you complete the Khaz Algar campaign story first. As you continue your adventures and unravel the mysteries of Khaz Algar, you’ll eventually reach the second zone, called The Ringing Deeps. When you get to Gundargaz city in The Ringing Deeps, complete the Kobold Kleanup quest first.

You can do it quickly—the quest only requires you to clean Gundargaz City by interacting with a few materials on the ground. Once you’ve done that, hand in the quest to Fourman Grimes, at coordinates 47.3, 31.9, and he’ll give you the On the Job Training quest.

On the Job Training tasks you with repairing four machines in the area. To successfully complete the quest, you must listen carefully to the instructions from NPC Steamwarden Hurlt. All four machines have the following buttons that you need to press:

  • Steam Pipe
  • Pressure Readout
  • Shutoff Lever
  • Flow Control

The buttons you need to press don’t have a specific order, so listen carefully to what Steamwarden Hurlt tells you. While the quest is rather easy, you also need to be fast at clicking the right button, otherwise you need to start over. After you successfully repair the Streamworks, simply hand in the quest to Fourman Grimes and you’re done.
