PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds will get a fourth map later this year, the developer revealed during Microsoft’s Xbox 2018 E3 press conference.

A very short teaser was shown at the end of a new Xbox-themed video for PUBG, and it didn’t show much at all. It only shows a first-person view of a player walking through a snowy landscape as snow falls and wind blows.

This will be the fourth map to come to the game. PUBG launched with Erangel but soon added the desert map of Miramar. Sanhok, the third map, is in testing right now on PC and will come to Xbox this summer. PUBG Corp later revealed that Sanhok would be releasing on June 22 on PC.

The Xbox video also showed players using ballistic to defend themselves from oncoming fire. PUBG Corp said that the shield will take up a primary weapon slot and will come to PC and Xbox One “later this year.”

A winter map has been asked for by players for a while, so it will be interesting to see what kind of vehicles, weapons, and gear will be added to the map to match up with the locale.

PUBG has been losing its playerbase throughout 2018 to games like Fortnite, so this upcoming content will try to reign gamers back in to 2017’s smash hit once more. It remains to be seen if this will be enough to bring players back into the fold, but PUBG Corp. won’t be giving up on the game any time soon.
