The best moveset for Guzzlord in Pokémon Go

What moves should you teach Guzzlord?

When you catch a Guzzlord in Pokémon Go, ensuring you get the most out of this Ultra Beast is important when battling against players or using it in raids. The best way to do this is by giving it the strongest attacks and teaching it the best moves it can learn.

There are only a few moves Guzzlord can learn, which means you want to be careful about your moveset selection. It’s easy to mess up on teaching it the correct attack, and it might mean you could come up short on battles against other Pokémon Go players. Thankfully, we can detail the attacks you want to give Guzzlord to give it the best moveset it can use in Pokémon Go, making it easier to defeat other players and use it in raids.

The attacks you want to teach Guzzlord will be the fast move Dragon Tail and the charged moves Dragon Claw and Crunch. These are the strongest attacks Guzzlord can learn in Pokémon Go, and make it a difficult opponent to defeat.

For Guzzlord’s fast attack, Dragon Tail is the superior choice, compared to the other option, Snarl. Between the two, Dragon Tail is significantly more powerful than Snarl, and they’re both attacks that take three turns to use. Dragon Tail dishes out 13 damage and gives nine energy each time you use it. Snarl, on the other hand, deals five damage but provides 13 energy. Although Snarl gives more energy each turn, Dragon Tail’s superior damage makes it a far better choice.

Guzzlord has several more options for you when considering what charged moves to use. These are all the charge moves Guzzlord can learn in Pokémon Go.

  • Brutal Swing (Dark-type)
  • Crunch (Dark-type)
  • Dragon Claw (Dragon-type)
  • Sludge Bomb (Poison-type)

Of the four choices, Dragon Claw and Crunch are the best attacks. Dragon Claw does 50 damage and requires 35 energy, and Crunch does 70 damage and requires 45, with a 30-percent chance to lower the opponent’s defense by one rank.

Although Brutal Swing is a strong Dark-type move that does 65 damage for 40 energy, Crunch’s chance to debuff an opponent edges it out as the must-have selection. The problem is similar to Sludge Bomb, which does 80 damage and needs 50 energy. You can always swap out Crunch, though, if you want to potentially combat any Fairy-types that might counter Guzzlord in Pokémon Go.

Is Guzzlord good in Pokémon Go?

Guzzlord is a commonly used Pokémon in the Great and Ultra Leagues. Because of how often it’s used against players, I consider it a good Pokémon to invest in while playing Pokémon Go. You do want to ensure it doesn’t exceed 2,500 CP, though.

Although I regularly recommend it for Pokémon Go players if they want to participate in the Great and Ultra Battle Leagues, they may want to avoid using it in the Master League. Unfortunately for Guzzlord fans, there are far too many other Legendary and Mythical Pokémon that make Guzzlord obsolete in the Master League.
