VandeR leaves Schalke 04, becomes a free agent

The German team is set to lose its star support ahead of another season in Challenger.

Support player Oskar “VandeR” Bogdan is leaving Schalke 04 after the team barely missed out on EU LCS promotion.

The player has announced that his contract with the German soccer giant has expired today— and hinted that he is set to join an LCS team instead of resigning with Schalke 04.

Vander originally joined Schalke 04 from EU LCS team H2K-Gaming off the back of H2K’s impressive run to the semifinals of Worlds 2016. The dramatic Worlds run from the last remaining EU LCS team was ended by Worlds 2016 finalists, Samsung Galaxy.

Schalke 04 had a successful start in the EU CS, finishing first overall in the table after ending the season an undefeated 5-0. The five wins were enough to secure the team a place in the spring playoffs against the fourth-placed team, Misfits Academy.

Schalke 04’s success in the regular season made the team overwhelming favorites heading into the series. The team failed to deliver when it counted however, losing to Misfits Academy and missing out on the Summer Promotion tournament.

Schalke 04 will now be looking to rebuild once again as the team look to put the disappointing Spring Season behind them for the EU CS Summer Season. The organization will have to compete with fellow disappointed hopefuls Paris St Germain, and newly relegated Origen and Giants Gaming for its shot at redemption for the previous split.
