A single button press is all you need to do.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has finally arrived and it has tons of items for players to wield.

While picking up and using an item might come as second nature to an avid Super Smash Bros. fan, Ultimate is bringing in a lot of newcomers that struggle with basic controls.

To help out, here is a simple guide to picking up and using the many items available in-game.

Ultimate has many items, but they all require you to pick them up before being able to use them. To do this, all you need to do is press the A button, the basic attack button, while next to an item to pick it up.

You can then press that button again to throw, use, or swing the item around depending on what it is. You can drop the item by pressing the Grab button (R or Z depending on the controller) once you’ve had enough of using it.

Some items, such as Assist Trophies, won’t require an additional button press to use, however, and will just activate as soon as you pick it up.
