The shenanigans of Cascade are back.

Cascade Constructed is one of the wackiest MTG Arena events, and with the addition of War of the Spark cards, this Cascade tournament has the potential for true madness.

Rated as one of the top Magic: The Gathering streamers on Twitch,
Kacem “ProfessorNoxious” Khilaji is known for creating janky decks while competing in funky and wild styles of play.

When asked by Wizards of the Coast to create an event for MTG Arena, Nox was drawn towards an old MTG mechanic introduced in the Alara Reborn expansion, called “cascade.” It’s a triggered ability which allowed a player to cast two spells for the price of one.

“When you cast this spell, exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a nonland card whose converted mana cost is less than this spell’s converted mana cost. You may cast that card without paying its mana cost. Then put all cards exiled this way that weren’t cast on the bottom of your library in random order.”

The Cascade Constructed event on MTG Arena has a token which allows the use of the cascade mechanic every turn. Hence, a wild tournament where typical Standard constructed decks won’t cut it.

During the previous Ravnica Allegiance expansion, Nox created a Radkos Burn deck for the Cascade Constructed event on MTG Arena, along with a Liches and Riches deck. Other popular decks used were Dinosaur Burn, Green Stompy, Vampire Aggro, and G/W Elves.

With the new MTG expansion War of the Spark coming into play, many of the new Cascade Constructed decks will likely feature Eternal-Gods like Oketra, Kefnet, and Ilharg—along with a host of planeswalkers.

The War of the Spark Cascade Constructed event runs from May 17 to 20, only on MTG Arena. The event costs 500 gold, or 100 gems to play, and allows for up to five wins and two losses
