Head-scratching Marvel Snap OTA update brings interesting tweaks to 7 cards

These changes could drastically affect certain decks.

A new Marvel Snap update just rolled out for all platforms today, with changes to seven different cards across the meta that some may deem controversial.

With both nerfs, buffs, and changes with yet-to-be-seen effects, this update looks to take aim at a few specific decks while also hoping to increase the viability of a couple of cards that rarely see playing time in the summer of 2024.

Loki has been changed yet again in this update, going from a three/five to a two/two with the same ability, although he’ll no longer draw a card. This is a head-scratching change since Loki has become a menace in Arishem decks, and this adjustment will make it so he can be played out on turn one in those decks, effectively making his textbox effect stronger.

“When we updated Loki earlier this month, we said we’d come back quickly if necessary,” Second Dinner said. “While some doubted its strength early on, we’ve since seen Loki’s performance prove that the updated card was one of the strongest in the game. That overshot our goal by a bit, though we were happy to see some of the resulting shifts. We’re going to try and tone Loki down by making the power less efficient for the cost as we remove the draw and move the card down the curve. If this doesn’t work, we may return to adjusting the effect.”

Taskmaster is now a six-cost card, making it a pretty sizable nerf, although it’s only an increase in one cost. This means he’ll no longer be playable on turn five, nor will he be able to add a one-cost to play with him on turn six.

The other nerf came for Copycat, who will now just “copy” a card’s ability rather than “steal” it, meaning the affected card can still be played with its ability. The only certified buff in the patch so far is for Cannonball, who got an increase in one power, but the below card changes will need to be seen in action to see how they change performance.

Several other changes in the update are notable, including Beast (was two/two, is now three/five), Attuma (will destroy a lower power card at his location after every turn), and Destroyer (one less power, but will now only destroy cards at other locations).
