In Marvel Snap, the towering characters of Norse mythology are also included in the card pool. One of them is Odin, the most famous ruler of Asgard.

Odin has vast strength, speed, stamina, durability, and resistance to Earthly diseases as well as certain forms of magic. He also possesses the Odinforce, a powerful energy source. In Marvel Snap, he has an exceptionally powerful ability that can turn games upside down. So, here are the best Odin decks in Marvel Snap.

Odin abilities in Marvel Snap, explained

Odin is a six-Cost, eight-Power card with a godly effect that reads “On Reveal: Activate the On Reveal abilities of your other cards at this location.” Building a deck around him can turn him into a powerful tool that enhances your other On Reveal cards, especially those with game-changing effects.

You can get Odin in the early stages of the game, specifically between Collection Levels one and 14. This gives you the chance to build Marvel Snap decks around the king of Asgard soon after you start playing, and without needing to pay real money. He’s a great card for beginners to experiment with.

Strategy and best combos for Odin decks in Marvel Snap

There are lots of cards with On Reveal abilities, so there are countless possibilities where Odin can be beneficial. Some of the most popular On Reveal strategies including Odin are setups using Wong, which causes On Reveal effects to trigger twice at the same location. You can use cards like White Tiger and Doctor Doom to double their number of units they create at other locations, and Odin can double the effect again to make more.

Jubilee’s ability is another great target for Odin, since it can bring out another unit from your deck without needing to spend more Energy. As for the famous Black Panther and Arnim Zola combo, using Odin on Arnim Zola can give you 32-Power Black Panther clones at two of your locations. Combining this strategy with Wong can make the setup even more dangerous.

Odin also helps the hammer duo, Thor and Beta Ray Bill. Both of these hammer wielders add their corresponding weapons to your deck (Mjolnir for Thor and Stormbreaker for Beta Ray Bill), and both created cards cost zero and have On Reveal effects. Using Odin to reactivate the hammer cards’ abilities can make Thor and Beta Ray Bill more powerful.

Pure On Reveal

Odin excels in a Pure On Reveal deck. As the name suggests, this deck revolves around On Reveal effects to give you a handful of advantages, like building up huge Power at your locations, creating more units, inflicting control effects, and more.

The deck relies on two offensive engines. The first is the Black Panther and Arnim Zola combo, where your aim is to produce Black Panther clones with a ton of Power. The second involves swarming locations with created units courtesy of White Tiger and Doctor Doom. The former creates a five-Cost, seven-Power Tiger clone on another location, while the latter summons two five-Power Doombots separately at the other two locations.

Also include Wolfsbane for another potential Power source, and Storm for her ability to flood a location, making the next turn the last one cards can be played there. The deck also runs Nebula for the Storm combo, and control cards with On Reveal abilities like Iceman and Scorpion for additional disruption effects.

Odin’s ability to reactivate On Reveal effects is also powerful in a Hammer deck. Since Odin makes Thor and Beta Ray Bill more powerful, using the two hammer-wielders as your main Power sources is an excellent option.

Aside from Thor and Beta Ray Bill, Darkhawk is another good Power source in this deck thanks to its Ongoing ability to gain plus two Power for every card in your opponent’s deck. For this reason, the deck also runs best pals Korg and Rock Slide to make Darkhawk stronger. Odin excels at putting more unnecessary rocks in your opponent’s deck thanks to the pair.

On top of this, Zabu reduces the cost of your four-Cost cards, most notably Beta Ray Bill and Darkhawk. Other useful four-Cost units included in the deck are Shang-Chi (to potentially destroy your opponent’s cards) and Ms. Marvel (to give additional Power to adjacent locations).

Cap off the deck with the literally unstoppable Jeff the Baby Land Shark, and Jane Foster, who retrieves all your zero-Cost cards from the deck (invaluable for pulling Mjolnir and Stormbreaker).

How to counter Odin decks in Marvel Snap

Since Odin decks are built around cards with On Reveal abilities, Cosmo is a direct counter. Cosmo’s ability reads as “Ongoing: On Reveal abilities won’t happen at this location.” It completely shuts down the decks’ main engines. So, you should know where to place Odin and your On Reveal cards in the late-game to prevent this from happening.

Lockdown decks can also be hard to deal with if you’re using an On Reveal deck focusing on Odin. This is because your deck requires a lot of setup to reach its full potential, and cards like Professor X and Spider-Man can stop you in your tracks.
