Riot planning buffs for Darius, Pyke, Janna, and many more in Worlds Patch 8.19

We're going to need a bigger patch.

Riot is writing up the patch notes for next week’s update, Patch 8.19 (AKA the Worlds patch), according to Riot staffer Richard “Riot Maple” Henkel on Twitter.

Maple’s tweet lists 10 separate champions scheduled for buffs, including Darius, Pyke, Janna, and many others, as well as a buff to Liandry’s Torment to help out a few mages. Here’s the full list of champions mentioned by Henkel.

  1. Elise
  2. Darius
  3. Fiora
  4. Kha’Zix
  5. Jarvan
  6. Kog’Maw
  7. Thresh
  8. Pyke
  9. Janna
  10. Nunu

Some of these changes are already on the PBE for us to see, including Nunu’s AP scaling buffs, slow potency increases on Kha’Zix’s Void Spike, and a cooldown reduction on Elise’s Rappel, but the rest are nowhere to be found just yet. That’s not a bad thing, though, as we still have over a week before the Worlds patch arrives, which is plenty of time for a few more PBE updates.

For the most part, buffs to these champions sound just fine. Elise, Thresh, Kog’Maw, and Jarvan especially have been struggling for quite a while on the pro stage. Others, like Janna and Kha’Zix, seem to be performing alright, and from previous experience, we know just how oppressive they can be when they’re remotely strong in the meta, so we’re a little worried about those.

Being the Worlds patch, however, all of these buffs were probably designed with pro play in mind, so we don’t expect any of them to be terribly extreme. The patch should arrive next Wednesday.
