Quinn has taken complete control of the current League of Legends meta, thanks to the new Stormrazor item and subsequent nerfs to the game’s other marksmen.
She’s the best performing top, jungle, and bot laner, according to League stats site Champion.gg. Earlier this week, we predicted that Riot would dish out a nerf on the PBE soon enough to go live with Patch 8.15 next week. As it turns out, we were right, and the nerf that was pushed onto the PBE last night will hopefully be enough to drag her down a bit.
The nerf hits her right where she needs to be hit, in our opinion. Her base armor is dropping from 32 to 28, and the damage of her passive is dropping a bit, too. The real key to this nerf is the base armor. If Riot had nerfed her damage, they’d be taking away what makes Quinn who she is—a bursty assassin-like marksman. Nerfing her armor means that other laners will be able to punish her when she comes up to harass them.
If it ends up not having a big enough impact, we imagine Riot would come up with another nerf in the future. We don’t think she’ll need it, though, because the armor nerf coupled with a slight reduction in her reliable damage should do the trick.
Now, it’ll be easier to counter her with AD top laners and junglers, as well as other marksmen in the bot lane. That’s good, because marksmen are slowly rising back into the bot lane meta, at least in solo queue, so Quinn may have some issues in the near future.
This nerf should go live with Patch 8.15 next Wednesday.
